The Grey Owl High Performance wood paddle is the one piece of equipment no paddler should be without. The shaft is constructed of laminated ash with a bass core, an oiled maple T-grip and a cambered ash and bass blade with a urethane tip. Grey Owl racing paddles are made with form-bent, laminated, multi-ply shafts. All shafts are oval in design to give a positive blade orientation and comfortable feel. Another feature is the T-grip sizing capability, that allows the shaft to be cut and glued at any length within its range. The dihedral or cambered blade give a smooth and turbulent-free stroke while providing maximum thrust and minimum slippage.The blades are protected with hardwood edges and a urethane plastic tip for a clean and quiet entry. While the oiled maple T-grip provides a comfortable, blister-free grip, the paddle is coated with a polyurethane varnish to ensure a beautiful and long-lasting protective finish. Only the finest woods, glues and other materials are used to deliver a superior product to you. At 20 ounces, the High Performance paddle is about 3 oz lighter than the Club model, but it is hefty enough to stand up to wind, spray and wakes. Many of the top US paddlers switch to their HP Wood paddle instead of carbon fiber when conditions are less than optimal. "Practice with wood, race with carbon fiber" is what we are hearing from many coaches.
